Install from zip
Install the theme from a zip file
This guide walks you through installing the Meditative Folks Theme using a zip file already saved on your computer. You do not need any coding skills.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- Access to your Shopify admin (you need permission to manage themes).
- The theme zip file on your computer (for example on your Desktop or Downloads folder).

Theme zip file on your computer
Show the theme zip file in Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows), with the file name clearly visible so you know what to upload.
Step 1 — Open Themes in Shopify
- Sign in to your Shopify admin.
- In the left sidebar, click Online Store.
- Click Themes.
You will see your current live theme at the top, and other themes listed below under Theme library.

Step 2 — Upload the zip file
- On the Themes page, find the Theme library section.
- Click Add theme.

Add theme → Upload zip file
Show the Add theme menu open with Upload zip file highlighted, then the file picker or upload dialog. Clarify that you should pick the .zip file, not a folder.
Step 3 — Preview the theme (recommended)
Before publishing, preview the theme so you can check that pages look right.
- In Theme library, find Meditative Folks Theme (or the theme name shown).
- Click the theme card menu (⋯) or Preview.
- Browse a few pages: home, a product, cart, and collection.

Preview theme from Theme library
Show the Theme library card for the Meditative Folks Theme with the Preview action highlighted. Optionally show the storefront preview bar at the top of the storefront.
Step 4 — Publish the theme (make it live)
Publishing replaces your current live theme. Your previous theme stays in the Theme library, so you can switch back later.
- In Theme library, open the menu on the Meditative Folks Theme card.
- Click Publish.
- Confirm when Shopify asks.
Your storefront now uses the Meditative Folks Theme.

Publish theme confirmation
Show the Publish action on the theme card and the confirmation dialog Shopify shows before making the theme live. Highlight that the previous theme is kept in the library.
Step 5 — Open the theme editor
After publishing (or while still in draft), customize your theme:
- On the Themes page, click Customize on the Meditative Folks Theme.
- Use the left sidebar to edit sections, blocks, and theme settings.
Start with:
- How theme settings work — store-wide fonts, colors, and buttons
- Header — logo, menu, cart icon
- Hero Slideshow — homepage banner

Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| Upload fails | Confirm the file ends in .zip and is not corrupted. Try downloading or exporting the zip again. |
| Theme uploads but looks empty | Open Customize and check that the homepage template still has sections. |
| I uploaded the wrong zip | Delete the unused theme from Theme library (see Uninstall), then upload again. |
